Appropriate Professional Training and/or Experience

This program assumes you come into the training with your own technical discipline(s) (see “Qualifying Professional Disciplines” below). It also assumes you have kept your credentials and practice skills up-to-date. In other words, this program does not teach the fundamentals of the many disciplines required to assess, plan, design, construct, manage, and complete a river restoration project. It does teach, within today’s best practice limitations, how to integrate your practice with the other disciplines on the collaborative restoration planning team.

Based on survey results conducted by PSU and River Restoration Northwest, this program recognizes that “river restoration professionals” are, in general, dedicated career people who:

Come from over 20 disciplines

Belong to over 100 professional associations

Work under too many job descriptions to even count!

Know and acknowledge that the industry is fast paced and continually improving

Know that there is perhaps no better job on the planet

Required Competencies

To participate in the River Restoration Professional Certificate Program you must have:

:A working knowledge of Word, Excel, and file management

Solid algebraic and analytical skills
